  • Taking Care of a Removable Denture

    In addition to correct oral hygiene and care of a removable denture it is also essential for a patient to learn how to put it into their mouth and take it out properly. The best way is to follow the dentist's direct instructions given in the surgery.

  • Bland diet

    A bland diet is indicated in the case of chronic gastrointestinal tract (GIT) diseases that do not require changes in the energetic intake from food or changes in the proportion of individual nutrients. The diet is indicated alongside the treatment of functional dyspepsia as well as high acidity of gastric juice, ulcer disease, complications following gastric resection, and during the dormant phase of chronic diseases of gallbladder and pancreas.

  • Infertility

    The number of couples who have trouble conceiving is increasing annually in the Czech Republic. Sometimes it helps to slow down the pace of life, change your eating habits or just quit smoking. In some cases, however, couples must undergo infertility treatment using assisted reproduction technology. Statistics show that every tenth child is born this way.

    Psoriasis is a non-infectious, infl ammatory, autoimmune skin disease, which aff ects nearly 600,000 czechs, with the percentage of the aff ected population continuously rising. There is a clear link between the disease and lifestyle and stress. In addition to being barely treatable, the disease causes considerable psychosocial burden to the patients.

  • Angina

    Angina (angina pectoris) is one of the forms of coronary heart disease (CHD). Its cause is a restricted blood (and subsequently oxygen) supply to the muscles of the heart, when ischaemia of the heart muscles occurs due to the restriction in the supply of oxygen. In most cases, angina is the consequence of coronary artery atherosclerosis, when the arteries are significantly constricted by sclerotic lesions and do not allow increase in blood flow under strain.

  • Snakebites

    Snakebites are a cause of death in approximately 40,000-60,000 people a year worldwide. Out of 3,000 known snake species 400 are considered dangerously venomous. There is only one venomous snake species in the Czech Republic – the common European adder, or viper (vipera berus).  According to  statistical data, venom is released in 500 out of every 1,000 cases of snakebite and only one of these proves fatal in the Czech Republic.

  • Diet for children suffering from diarrhoea

    Diarrhoea is manifested by voluminous watery stools with a frequency of more than three passages a day. The stool may also contain traces of blood, pus or mucus. The biggest threat diarrhoea poses to the body is metabolic disruption and dehydration, which is particularly dangerous for children and the elderly. Acute diarrhoea can last for a maximum of four weeks; however, it usually lasts two to three days. Chronic diarrhoea persists for periods longer than four weeks.

  • Treating Scars

    The right technique and appropriate dressing are the key factors for successful healing. However, there is a whole range of other factors that contribute to the final result. Some people have barely visible scars, while others have scars that are raised, red, or the skin is even wrinkled. Genetic factors, overall health and nutrition, as well as other factors, play an important role.

  • Magnetic resonance imaging

    Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a screening method used mostly in medicine to scan internal organs of the human body. Using MRI, it is possible to obtain cross-sections of a particular body part, which can be further processed and linked until obtaining the final 3D image of a given organ. MRI uses strong magnetic field and radio waves. Contrary to a CT scan, MRI does not carry any risks connected to radiation.

  • Total knee replacement

    Total knee replacement is surgery during which the damaged parts of the knee joint are replaced with artificial pieces. During the surgery the muscles and cartilage of the knee joint are gently removed, the knee joint is opened and the ends of the thigh bone and the shin bone are shaped to fit the artificial parts, and cemented with a special bone cement.
